“If your Nerve, deny you—

Go above your Nerve—”

— Emily Dickinson

Above The Nerve is a creative production company working across film, fashion, and visual storytelling.

Founded by filmmaker and cultural entrepreneur Charlotte Verminck, the company develops and produces work that explores the emotional and psychological layers of the human experience, translating them into a refined cinematic language.

Its approach is rooted in atmosphere, composition, and rhythm, with a strong sensitivity to image and tone. Drawing from influences across cinema, fashion, and movement, each project is shaped with a distinct visual identity where every element serves the feeling of the work.

Rather than following a predefined structure, each production is approached as a world of its own, guided by intuition, collaboration, and a clear artistic vision.

Above The Nerve was created from the belief that the way something is made is as important as what is made. It was built on the belief that every person on a set deserves to feel genuinely valued, heard, and respected — not treated as a number in a production. That commitment shapes every collaboration.

“I’m drawn to creating work that people don’t just watch, but step into -

where image, emotion, and atmosphere become something they can feel.”

— Charlotte Verminck

The company’s work moves between narrative film and visually driven projects, unified by a cinematic language that prioritizes emotion, presence, and experience.

Its narrative short film Mind of Thoughts premiered at the 25th Beverly Hills Film Festival at the TCL Chinese Theatres and went on to receive multiple international awards, including Best International Film in Los Angeles. The film continued its trajectory across international festivals, connecting with audiences through its psychological depth and visual precision.

The production was independently financed - a six-figure undertaking built entirely through Charlotte's own conviction, bringing sponsors and collaborators to the table before a single frame was shot.

Produced across Belgium, France, and the Netherlands with a team of over 50 collaborators, the project reflects a commitment to both scale and authorship - combining ambitious production with a strong directorial voice.

Earlier work such as Pathless established a foundation for this language, receiving international recognition and continuing to be showcased at festivals worldwide - reflecting an ongoing engagement with image, atmosphere, and emotional resonance.

Beyond its film and visual work, Above The Nerve has developed the Mind of Thoughts Screening & Conversation Experience - a curated format combining the film, a making-of documentary, and a live conversation on thought, self-perception, and the inner life. The experience is available to cultural institutions, civic organizations, universities, and private events internationally.

Alongside its narrative work, Above The Nerve has created visual and music-driven projects - directing music videos for artists including Rose Spearman, shot on location in the Netherlands, and Eddy Zoëy, whose music video was featured on RTL Boulevard.

Across formats and disciplines, the focus remains the same:

to create work that resonates beyond the screen -

lingering in feeling, memory, and conversation.
